The year 2024 is drawing to a close, and even though “the end of the year” is kinda like a regular occurence which happens pretty much exactly once per year, it still gives me the opportunity to absolutely wreck myself and give you basically a whole day of awesome music.
This special show will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024. It will start at 09:00 and will probably take forever about 15 hours, which means I can finally drop dead around midnight.
Second-to-last Newsflash of 2024, and I was wrong about the apparent holiday break I thought everybody had already taken, because we had a whopping 20 new tracks today! Granted, a bunch of those was from the same Above & Beyond EP but, eh, what can you do? 😄
And I have decided on the date for the End of the Year™ mix I’m going to do. Clear your schedules on Dec 28, and I mean clear them, because I will start at 09:00 and will probably play for around 15 hours… 😩
First we will need to get through the last Newsflash of the year, though, and it’s going to be at its regular time; next Wednesday, Dec 25, at 19:00. Business as usual!
I need to mentally prepare for the mammoth show in one-and-a-half weeks, so have a Favourite of the Week™: “Parallel Worlds” by Fatum, taken from the Melodic House/Techno charts!
And here is the thing where you can do the thing with the thing.
The next show will be on Wednesday, December 25, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1. And the really big show will be on Saturday, December 28, starting at 09:00 CET/UTC+1!
Only two more shows to go until the end of the year, and the traditional End of the Year™ Mix by Yours Truly. I am already getting a little bit nervous because I haven’t still prepared anything and still have no real idea how I will handle the huge amount of tracks. We can still all be surprised by what I’ll be coming up with, most of all me!
Let’s handle the easy stuff first: today’s show! This week there have been even less releases than last week so I could fill up the show a bit with awesome tracks from the previous months. Nice change of pace… and maybe it’s giving me an idea for next year!
But let’s not think about that just yet, first you need to listen to today’s show, because otherwise you’re not going to here the following goodies:
“Palau” by Alex Wright – great opener!
“Nostalgia” by Bluebird Wood and Mark Eteson, and
The Dominant Space remix of “One Step Forward” by Nhato & Glascat.
I cannot recommend enough that you listen to this show. Because in addition to those cool tracks you’ll also get even more cool tracks, by the likes of Mark Sherry, Armin van Buuren, Liam Wilson, Darren Porter & That Girl, and Bo Bruce & Bryan Kearney!
And of course I have a Favourite of the Week™ this week as well, and it’s the fantastically named “Space Sex” by Ben Gold!
So, I think I can’t make it any clearer. Listen to the bloody show! You’re welcome!
The next show will be on Wednesday, December 18, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
I guess the past months have been all too quiet so it was time for something to act up again, and today that part was played by Dante, my audio guy! After a bit of whacking him I was finally able to start the show, only eight minutes late!
I also guess the trance producing world is already preparing for christmas, the last two weeks have seen fewer releases than previous weeks, and in three weeks I will already be playing the last regular show of the year 2024 – at least, that’s what I think will happen. After that I will also have to play the End of the Year™ mix, but there’s enough rest of the year left for that. I’m just wondering how I’m going to manage to play all the tracks that I liked this year, because according to my latest research (checking the “Smart Playlist”) there are already 192 of those… and I don’t really feel like playing 18 hours. I guess I’ll have to come up with something…
But first I’ll have to lose a couple of words about this week’s show which was a good one. I heard a couple of tracks that I liked, e.g. the Dream Phase remix of “The Eternal” by Jose Amnesia, or the Aeon Shift remix of Solarstone’s “Touchstone,” and there was the Favourite of the Week™, once again supplied by Above & Beyond: “Another Breakdown.”
And if you failed to completely plan your week around my show, shame on you. Go listen to the recording!
The next show will be on Wednesday, December 11, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
Last show in November, one day early because of work constraints. Only, like, four more shows to go this year… plus maybe a massive End of the Year mix? You could leave me a comment and try to persuade me to make one! 😄
This week’s Favourite of the Week™ is by Nifra and Sarah De Warren, called “Time.”
The other tracks you have to discover for yourself (or check the playlist below, idc)! 🙂
The next show will be on Wednesday, December 4, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
Due to a volume slider that got turned to -21 dB 🎚️, today’s show was a bit on the quiet side, but only as far as volume is concerned, because we had a bunch of nice tracks!
For example, John Askew made a nice remix of “Apex” by Simon Patterson, and Sue McLaren and the Space Brothers brought us “Way Back,” and the Favourite of the Week™ is the Robbie Seed remix of “Home” by Lost Witness and Tiff Lacey!
Luckily the recording has 0 volume problems, so enjoy it right here! 😄 🔊
The next show will be on Wednesday, November 27, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
So, my new MacBook arrived on Monday, and foolishly I issued the command “brew upgrade,” having forgotten that I – for whatsoever reason – installed Engine DJ using Homebrew. Which means it got updated. Which means it also upgraded the collection on my flash drive. Which means that the player was like, “nope, not touching that.”
Luckily I was prepared! I had no idea that this was the scenario I would be preparing for, but, eh… prepared is prepared! So I grabbed one of the backup flash drives, copied the missing tracks and was good to go!
We did have a slow week with only ten new entries, but there were a couple of tracks I was looking forward to. Nitrous Oxide released a new track, with Katey Brooks and Simon Gregory, named “Skylight;” RRAW! (aka Talla 2XLC) remixed a real classic, “Adagio for Strings;” Above & Beyond released “React;” and then there was the Favourite of the Week™:
You really need to listen to this show. It’s not a suggestion, it’s just your current state. You need this.
The next show will be on Wednesday, November 20, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
Only two months left until the End of the Year™ mix, the best 12 hours (or maybe more) of this year! I don’t have a date picked yet, but as soon as I do, you’ll know.
Some of the tracks you might hear include MRPHLNDR’s “MELODEMON,” Allen Watts’s “Soulsearcher,” Jordan Taylor’s and Lyd14’s “Keep You in My Heart,” and probably also this week’s Favourite of the Week™: “Fleeting Moments” by Doppenberg.
If upon listening to the show (like, right here 👇) you’ll notice other tracks that might be good candidates, be sure to bring them up in the comments!
The next show will be on Wednesday, November 6, at 19:00 ⚠️ CET/UTC+1 ⚠️. Just as a reminder that I am not on Daylight Savings Time anymore, so if your timezone does not have the same rules regarding to DST switches, make sure to check with your local time bank to find out when I’m actually playing!
It’s Halloween next week! Does that mean anything for next week’s show? No, it does not!
I’m glad we could clear that up. 😁
The show started directly with an awesome track (“Eternal Transit” by Elan Myles and Rick Pier O’Neil), and it went uphill from there, all the way to the Favourite of the Week™ (“Give Me a Reason” by Coulson and Jason Gray), and, actually, it stayed awesome until it was over.
If you think that my summary of the show is somehow not representative, listen to the show yourself and drop me a comment below!
The next show will on Wednesday, October 30, at 19:00 ⚠️ CET/UTC+1 ⚠️. I marked that in a bold font because Germany will switch from daylight savings time back to regular ordinary German mealtime, or whatever the dark times in the winter are called.
