This show felt solid. I got a raid from @hcemmi (thank you so much!) and raided into @debokmusic at the end of the show.

A bank holiday on a thursday, that’s the perfect opportunity for an extended DJ set on a friday, starting at 11:00 – just as tradition demands it.
The show started off extremely brilliantly with a raid by Triode during the second song! More than 60 people joined us and most of them actually stayed all the way until the end which made me very happy!

That has to be the most minimal delay for a Top of the Month show, like, ever! The new month is just eleven hours old and I’m already starting the Top of the Month show for the month that literally just finished? How crazy is that?!
Well, just a little bit, to be honest. I believe I did spend the last day of my vacation well, so after the weekend it’s back to work for me but right here you can pretend it’s still this morning at 
11:00 and listen to the whole thing in one go:

Heh, exactly one month ago I played a Top of the Month show, and today I did it again! Thanks to two and a half weeks of vacation I had a free Friday which I had no better idea how to fill than to play a Top of the Month show for you. Lucky you. 
The beginning was so troubled with audio problems that I couldn’t even start the show on time. I noticed that Audinate has finally published their Dante Virtual Soundcard software for M1 Macs and I totally had to go and install that immediately. However, due to a naming conflict and Dante’s automatic renaming it managed to get the renamed adapter into a state where I couldn’t rename it anymore… which was bad because now it couldn’t be used which was also bad because that was the one on the streaming computer! So I tried all kinds of things and what fixed it in the end was a bloody Windows reboot. I hate software. 
Anyway, the show started 45 minutes late but no further problems were encountered. It again went on for almost 8 hours and my feet still hurt after playing that long. Still worth it! 
The next show is going to be a Top of the Week show on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1. The next Top of the Month might be on Friday, April 1st, at 11:00 CET/UTC+1 but that’s not 100% fixed yet. Watch this space for more information!
It has really been a while since I played the last Top of the Month show and I have kind of forgotten how much fun they are… so I hope that in future I will be able to persuade myself to do one each month albeit probably not on a Friday again but during the weekend.
And I managed to play all of the Top 99 tracks of January! Conveniently the only track of the Top 100 that I don’t like at all and thus didn’t play was actually #100 of January’s charts so no big loss there. 
And then I got raided by nobody else than mayor himself, and he brought along nobody else than Martin Drake! Thank you two very much for dropping by! 
The next show is going to be a Top of the Week show on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1. The next Top of the Month in going to be in March (obviously, duh) but I have no clue yet as to a specific date. Just keep watching this space, or show up during the Top of the Week shows because I will most definitely mention it there!
Another 100-track, 7-and-a-half-hours set. These are still exhausting but incredible fun to play! I had two raids today, within 30 seconds, one by DancefloorGladiatorz and one by liquid_bongo. Thank you both very much!

I did it! I managed to play all 100 tracks of April’s charts without dying! 
I had a lovely manual raid by @LSOinferno (apparently sent to me by @swearyprincess 
), and later on @liquid_bongo dropped off his listeners at me. Thank you both very much!
The next show is going to be another weekly charts show on Wednesday, November 24, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1. On next Saturday there is not going to be a show because I’ll be out of town, visiting family.
I played a bit less than last week but everything still hurts. I really need to get more practice!
And I will be getting more practice by starting up my weekly chart show again! On wednesday, November 17, starting at 19:00 CET/UTC+1, I will play the charts of the week! That show will definitely be shorter than my weekend shows so maybe I will not be as dead afterwards, I hope. 
Holy moly, I went ahead and played 92 of the 100 best tracks of February 2021 in a massive 7-hour set. Everything hurts and I want to sleep for three days but it was worth it.
I will be back playing (some) of the best 100 tracks of March 2021 next week, again on saturday, November 13, 2021, starting at 11:00 CET/UTC+1.
Download & Playlist →Huh, I never really talked on this blog about what happened and why I stopped doing shows… I guess I should really do that, and probably should have done that back in February already. Shame on me!
So, what happened? Due to a series of unfortunate circumstances (macOS upgrades, firmware upgrades, more upgrades, other upgrades) the SSD in my DJ MacBook died. The original SSD was way too small to contain all the music I had collected over the decades so restoring from backup wasn’t happening. Getting a replacement SSD for that particular MacBook was out of the question as well because the SSDs in those MacBooks are not standard SSDs. My other MacBook also didn’t have enough storage so it couldn’t be of any help, either. Sheeit.
After restoring basic functionality by putting in the original SSD I was able to put enough music on it to play the show in March. At the time I had already decided that I wanted to get the Denon DJ Prime 4 
but held off on the purchase due to my then-suboptimal financial circumstances, what with being unemployed and all.
The weeks went by, turned to months, I found a new job, and at the end of August I felt financially secure enough to pull the trigger on the Prime 4. It was supposed to be delivered within 2–5 days which turned into 8 weeks at some point and then went down again and up and it was just like a rollercoaster, only I got sadder riding it every day. 
But, as they say, all good things must come to an end and so, last week I finally could hold it in my hands and it is huge, it is beautiful, and the outer of the three boxes it came in immediately drew blood
. According to my magic 
studies this means it will last forever?
Anyway, I recently checked the software side of the whole situation, i.e. the streaming side, and I only had to reinstall one driver and recreate one configuration, all the rest still seems to be working! Of course, not using Traktor anymore means that I will for now lose the ability to show track titles on the stream automatically but that only means that I will have to enter them manually, like in ancient times. I am working on a solution for that, though: the Denon players expose a lot of information about what the DJ is doing but of course it is using a proprietary protocol named StagelinQ which will require a lot of digging and trial-and-error to figure out. The future might be bright!
In order to get back on track (because I really, really like doing the weekly chart shows) I think I will start slowly, doing maybe one show every weekend. The first shows I will be doing will be Top of the Month shows (starting with February 2021) so you can catch up with all the great tracks released in the last ten months and once we are all caught up (which might be in next February, I guess) I will switch to doing my weekly chart shows again.
Or maybe I’ll do both a show during the week and one on the weekend? I am not sure yet… it may very well be that once I start doing shows again I won’t settle for anything less than ALL THE SHOWS EVERY DAY but I have picked up a couple of other regular appointments during the week which I do not want to give up at this time. 
Anyway. This saturday, November 6, 2021, starting at 11:00 CET/UTC+1 (for old times’ sake) I will be streaming the charts from February 2021, in the same place where it always happened, on my channel on Twitch. I expect you all to be there!
