It seems the change of the year has finally caught up with us, or have we caught up with the change of the year?
Either way, there were only six new tracks I could present to you today. A special shoutout needs to go to a track that debuted last week on my show, the 2023 Remastered Version of Lost Knowledge’s “Delirium” — somehow this track managed to totally slip by me unnoticed. Great track!
And there is another track which deserves a special mention, because it somehow was very much not like the other tracks, and not in an annoying way but it an unexpected and rather good way. I have to admit, I did not expect to play… uh… trance rap in my show? But yes, “Run” by Vizionn was pretty cool, too.
However, I am old and set in my ways so of course this week’s Favourite of the Week is the new release “Release” by Nhato. 😄
The rest of the tracks are good, too, make no mistake! And here you can listen to them yourself:
The next show will be on Wednesday, January 17, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
Happy New Year! May you 2024 be the best year that has ever happened to you!
My 2024 started quite relaxed, I stayed at home, there were food and movies and loved ones, I couldn’t really ask for anything more. ❤️ I hope your New Year’s Day was just as relaxing as mine.
Alright, enough of that, let’s get back to business. The ever-important business of enjoying great new trance tunes, that is!
Today’s show was very mixed; half of the tracks were from last year! 😀
Okay, okay, I’ll stop fooling around. There was a bunch of great new tracks this week, such as “You” by Asteroid, “Butterfly” by Sam Laxton, Kevin Krissen, Milan Gavris, and Techno Cats released a cover version of “In and Out of Love” (by nobody else than Sharon den Adel and Armin van Buuren), Scot Project released a new EP, containing “C3 (Celestial),” “M2 (Make Me Feel),” and “Y2 (Yeah Yeah),” there was the SUPERSTRINGS remix of “Soundpiercing” by Prototype, and Nu Spirit contributed the Favourite of the Week: “Rise of the Phoenix.”
So, there you have it. 2024 has begun, and I expect there to be many, many great new tracks! I’m almost already looking forward to this year’s End of the Year mix… 😆 but first let’s get this week’s episode going. Hit the button below!
The next show will be on Wednesday, January 10, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
And there it finally is, the last show of the year. Also, the longest show of the year. And the longest show of all shows in the history of shows! Well, of my shows at least…
I took my track management tool, selected all tracks that I have added in 2023 and that have a ★★★★ or ★★★★★ rating, and put them into their own playlist, and there were 163 (one hundred and sixty-three) tracks in that playlist. The show lasted for a bit longer than 12 (twelve) hours, and my feet are a bit ouchy now.
After the show I started with all the post-show processing, and the first thing I do after starting the encoding of the MP3 is to get the playlist from my DJ tool. I switched to the browser tab, opened the “History” section and confidently pressed the “Reset” button, you know, the one with the trash can on it, because that reloads the playlist from the server.
Does that make sense? No. No, it does not. What does make sense, though, is that that button deletes the playlist from the server.
So… yeah. I have a recording but it will not have a playlist in it… yet. I will probably go through the whole file and manually extract the timestamps for all the tracks, but not today. (Edit: the timestamps have been fixed, both on Mixcloud and the playlist below.)
The next show is going to be a regular show again, the first show of the new year! Tune in on Wednesday, January 3rd, at 19:00 CET/UTC+1!
Last regular show of the year! Nobody was hurt, lots of good music was instead heard, a new follower enlarged the herd, and… uh… yes. Good show all around, everybody, well done!
Wait. “Last regular” show? That feels like an unnecessary qualifier… unless…
I mean, it’s not that much of a surprise, really… little Midjourney Bunny, I have been telling people about this for a week now! Please pay attention in the future, okay?
So, on this Saturday, December 30, I will play a roughly 12-hour set with all the tracks of 2023 that I liked. Yes, 12 hours, that is not a typo. I mean, I don’t actually know how long it’s really going to be, I just know that I have a metric shit ton of tracks that I need to play, and as I have been playing 100 tracks multiple times in the past I kind of extrapolated from that.
The following track will also have to be added to that playlist, and I’m shuddering in view of the consequences… but, oh well, you gotta do what you gotta do. This week’s Favourite of the Week is XiJaro & Pitch’s remix of Dicosis’s & Crooked Bangs’ track “Walking on Water.”
Saturday’s show will be huge but until then you have to listen to this normal-sized episode. You’ll manage. 🙂
The nest show is going to be this Saturday, December 30, 2023, starting early at 10:00 CET/UTC+1! We’ll start off with some Breakfast Trance, go on to some nice Lunch Trance and will over the course of day pass along the Coffee & Cake Trance until we finally reach Dinner Trance! Do not miss that!
Even so short before the end of the year, nothing in the world seems to be really slowing down, especially the trance releases, apparently!
There were new releases by DT8 Project, Darren Porter, Rinaly, David Rust, Sunny Lax, Kamaya Painters, Ben Hemsley, Temple One, Alex M.O.R.P.H., and a whole bunch of others! Only one track can win the widely coveted (it’s true, I read it on the internet!) Favourite of the Week Award, though, and this week it is this one:
Today was the last Wednesday before Christmas, but it was not the last Wednesday of the year, and so I will be back next week. I will also probably play an End of the Year show on the 30th, for a whole whopping 8 hours, or something like that. You know, the usual “100 tracks” length of show.
But first, listen to today’s show to learn what you have missed:
I will be back next week at the usual spot, Wednesday, December 27, 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
How does that even work, that every week there are so many good tracks to play? Where do all these tracks come from? Why are there still people around who manage to create awesome tracks, apparently week after week after week after week? I have no idea how that even works… but I’ll accept it.
The show started off great with a couple of vocal tracks, e.g. the Genix remix by OceanLab’s “Beautiful Together,” Alex Sonata & TheRio released “Drifting Light,” we heard “Radiant” again (by David Frank, Farius, and Ruben de Ronde), and we got a recap of Above & Beyond’s own remix of OceanLab’s “Satellite,” for good measure. 😄
Another very good vocal track followed a bit later, Christopher Corrigan’s remix of “Stay” by Jennifer Rene and SMR LVE, and Armour by Audrey Gallagher and Ciaran McAuley (remixed by David Forbes) doesn’t have to hide, either.
But there were also very good tracks without vocals (how is that even possible?!), such as Doppenberg’s “After All These Years,” Fiji by Atlantis and remixed by Allan Morrow, the Asteroid remix of Stoneface & Terminal’s “North Cape,” the Will Rees remix of “Come Closer” by Blue Serigala, and… you know what? Just listen to the damn show. 😄
As the Favourite of the Week I have picked this track: “Everything Is Energy” by Metta & Glyde. It was already very good last week, and it didn’t lose any of that.
So, now it’s your turn, listen to the show, and maybe tell me which tracks you liked? 👉👈
I will be back next week at the usual spot, Wednesday, December 20, 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
Another week, another important decision! Which track will be this week’s Favourite of the Week? I do have a track in mind but it would be a bit of a deviation…
Anyway. We heard a good number of great tracks today, and I am going to mention some of them, like “Radiant” by David Frank, Farius, and Ruben de Ronde, or “Feels Like Home” by Alex Sonata & TheRio, the Asteroid remix of “Atlas” by Inversed and Kinetica, Northern Storm’s third release “Starburst,” Allan Morrow’s remix of Atlantis’s “Fiji,” or what about “Don’t Say” by Allen & Envy and Victoriya, remixed by Ciaran McAuley? Also a great track! Victor Ruiz also had a remix in the show, of Christian Smith’s “Sleeptalker,” and Paul Denton broughts his new track “Global Consciousness,” and then there also was “Everything Is Energy” by Metta & Glyde.
All of these are great tracks, so why am I complaining once again? Of course it’s — also once again — not easy to make a decision but my actual current favourite is a bit of an outlier. You see, until now the source of all the tracks I played were Beatport’s Trance charts but this track is not in the Trance charts at all! It does sounds trance-adjacent enough, though, that I decided to include it anyway, because it’s my show and I can do what I want. 😆
So, less talky, more Favourite of the Weeky!
So, yes, a remix of an old classic, Tomcraft’s “Loneliness,” put into a new (and very cute!) dress by Hardwell and DJs from Mars. Nicely done! However, calling a 3:38 track “Extended Mix” is a bit of a stretch, if you ask me… 🤣
Anyway, thanks to my new, flashing Record Button Reminder thingy, you can now listen to the show again:
I will be back next week at the usual spot, Wednesday, December 13, 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
Due to important procrastination reasons today’s show started right at the usual time but way more hurried than usual.
Today’s show was also the last show of November, which means that this year is almost over, and once again it did go by kind of fast… but that also means that my End of the Year mix is approaching! I don’t know yet when exactly you will be able to experience it; looking at a calender, Saturday, December 30 seems like a good choice, though. Let’s see if I can make it!
First we have to go through tonight’s tracks, and once again there was a whole bunch of great tracks in today’s show… David Broaders opened the show with his solid release “Undertow,” Robert Nickson followed right up with “Soul Doubt,” and Rub!k’s “Red-Five” was cool, too! Lange & Skye brought us “Drifting Away” (remixed by Marsh), Audrey Gallagher and SMR LVE contributed “Going Home,” there was a new release by LSR/CITY (aka Gareth Emery and Annabel) named “House in the Streetlight,” Cold Blue remixed “Te Amo” by Bryan Kearney, Ana Criado and BiXX released “I Belong,” Steve Dekay had a new release as well (named “Dimorphos”), Photographer’s remix of Solarstone’s “4ever” grew on me this week, and the show was simply not possible without “Heads Will Roll” by Kym Ayres and Leigh Green, last week’s Favourite of the Week. Still a banger, and it’s gonna stay with us for a while… 😀
Alright, so, this week’s Favourite of the Week is a no-brainer, if you have been following the CQAH Discord. It is, obviously…
There was literally no other possible choice: Above & Beyond’s 2023 Progressive Remix of OceanLab’s “Satellite.” Spotify has been peddling this track to me hard for a week now, I’ve been hearing it on other people’s streams (e.g. when @liquid_bongo, @djcquence and XiJaro & Pitch played it), and it was high time that I played it as well. Well, here you go. 🙂
I will be back next week at the usual spot, Wednesday, December 6, 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
I got held up at work so the show started a bit later than usual… but hold up, am I not forgetting something? I sure am.
Because last week I also played a show but I forgot to hit the record button (again) which means that I also didn’t create post for it so now it has been three weeks without Favourites of the Week and that is basically unbearable!
Okay, so… three weeks ago I wasn’t actually at home on Wednesday so two weeks ago I played another Newsflash Double, those were weeks 45 and 46 of the year (which is almost over, by the way!), so let’s see what we had in that show.
One of the tracks that I was most looking forward to play was the new Sean Tyas & David Elston remix by “All Over Again” by Plumb and Bryan Kearney, and it did not disappoint. There was also a new remix of John O’Callaghan’s and Audrey Gallagher’s “Big Sky” by Asteroid and Paul Skelton, Jodie Poye and Lee Hanlon gave us “Falling for You,” Kenny McAuley’s track “Universal Connection” was great, as was “Sanctuary” by Will Rees, there was the Alex M.O.R.P.H. remix by Ciaran McAuley’s new track “Love Wins,” and finally we also heard “Parley Pt. 2 (The Bassline Will Bring Me Home)” by Angelus which was wonderful, too!
And as that show was a Newsflash Double, I get to pick two Favourites of the Week! The first one has to be this one:
The second one, of course, is this one, and it’s not like I really have a choice in that matter. 😀
Alright, that brings us to this week’s show, which started with a very high amount of vocal trance tracks, and has actually delivered almost one banger after the other. The tracks that really stood out for me this week, are “Black Hill” by trance dinosaur Talla 2XLC, “Peripheral” by Andrew Peters, “Falling for You” by Jodie Poye and Lee Hanlon is still great, Plumb’s “All Over Again” does not need to be mentioned again 😂, Forza:Duo’s track “Detrimental” was anything but, “Losing My Mind” by Mark Sherry slapped hard, Spy and Yelow’s “The Remedy” also deserves to be mentioned here, but the Favourite of the Week is most definitely this track, a remix of “Heads Will Roll” by Kym Ayres and Leigh Green, originally by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. It adds quite the kick to the original!
Because I forgot to record last week’s show, I built a little thing into one of my scenes in OBS so that every time I’m starting the show, it will automatically remind me to press the record button, and today it worked! I managed to record the show and that is why you can now listen to it again, by clicking this one simple button!
I will be back next week at the usual spot, Wednesday, November 29, 19:00 CET/UTC+1.
I installed a Windows update 30 minutes before the show, because nothing could go wrong, right? Right?
Luck was on my side tonight, I guess. No trouble from the software side, and nothing bad happening with the hardware, either!
Which means we can get right to the whole bunch of awesome tracks that we had tonight! We started with the still pretty great “Yes Man” by Ferry Corsten, then there was “Tears of the Kingdom” by Alex Sonata & TheRio, Giuseppe Ottaviani, and Tishmal (I really dig that one), John O’Callaghan had a really nice new track called “Flow Through” (and flow it did!), Stoneface & Terminal’s “Got My Need” was with us once again, the new Sam Laxton track “Into Me” was also pretty good, the Alchimyst remix of Ralphie B’s “Massive” still kicks, as does the Asteroid remix of “RAMplify” (by RAM, of course), and I simply needed to play Victor Riuz’s remix of 1998 again, and Airwave’s “Tears in Rain” brought this week’s show to a very, very decent close.
If you paid any attention you will notice that I skipped one particular track… and of course that is because it is the Favourite of the Week: “Pulse” by Ashley Wallbridge and John Grand. What a banger!
And you can check for yourself if you agree with my assessments:
I might not be back next week on Wednesday because there is a thing that I have to attend, and of course it’s from Wednesday till Thursday, and it’s not at home (and I won’t be taking the equipment 😀). Maybe I’ll play a show on Tuesday, maybe I’ll play it on Thursday after getting back, or you’ll get a double feature in the following week, or, like, whenever. I guess we’ll see!
